Summary
I played a key role in designing a platform for the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water. It aims to keep industry, government, and the public accountable for meeting Australia’s 2030 waste reduction targets. The platform enhances transparency and tracking to ensure waste management aligns with the National Waste Policy. Through artefact design, I made complex waste data more understandable for stakeholders, demonstrating my ability to collaborate effectively with diverse clients.

So, what?
- Addressed the lack of a comprehensive tool for monitoring waste targets and accountability.
- Aligned expectations among industry partners, government agencies, and the public.
- Designed a transparent government reporting system through stakeholder insights.
- Refined the design system for improved usability and public approval.

Conclusion
The Waste Data Visualisation Platform successfully tackled the challenge of enhancing accountability and transparency in waste management. Through extensive research, the development of a service blueprint, and the creation of conceptual prototypes, we achieved an improved understanding, stakeholder alignment, and heightened transparency. These efforts are pivotal in contributing to the collective mission of meeting waste reduction targets by 2030.
This experience underscored a crucial insight for me: while managing diverse focus research groups, my role is to adeptly synthesise findings from various interviews.
Ensuring that the voices of numerous stakeholders are heard during the design process is key. By the socialisation of the co-design process, a strategy was paved for the creation of an enduring solution.
